 Easter Island, Chile

Until you visit Easter Island, it is difficult to grasp just how remote it is. By some measures, it is the most isolated permanently inhabited place on earth. Driving through the uninhabited countryside you suddenly see  giant stone heads sticking up from the ground. It´s a WAW! Unreal.

Anakena beach, Easter Island. The moai pictured here was the first to be raised back into place on its ahu in 1955 by islanders using the ancient method.
The only sandy beach on the island.
